The History of NEXT
Rated Next is the debut studio album produced by Kay Gee of Naughty by Nature, who signed Next to his record label, Divine Mill, and recorded in Gee’s in-home recording studio. The album was released on September 30, 1997, under Divine Mill and Arista Records.
Welcome II Nextasy the second studio album was released by Arista Records on June 20, 2000 in the United States where it reached gold status. The album produced the song “Wifey” which became a wedding favorite.
"The Next Episode" helped solidify their reputation as talented vocalists and performers within the R&B community. The album contributed to the group's legacy by showcasing their willingness to experiment and push the boundaries of their sound.
"The Platinum & Gold Collection" by Next was released in 2004. This compilation album gathers some of the group's biggest hits, reflecting on their successful career in the R&B genre during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
